You breed both American and English Orpingtons, right? I was wondering, how far could you work in lengthening the Englishers back, and increasing egg production, but still be within their SOP? If you have a link or 2 I could go study? :-) I'm going to be aquiring some Eng. bantam stock at the WA...
Notwithstanding the excellent genetics discussion, just wanted to finally post that WFB Spanish pic from the WA show, just in case that person who was looking might be helped somehow:
I think I can read the info on the original picture, unless someone just happens to know who brought him.
Tammy, my state vets stated it was perfectly fine to eat the eggs, just that the hatch rate *could* be strongly affected. I'm sorry about your chickens. I don't have an expensive, long lived parrot to protect. We all have to make hard choices sometimes.

YHF - some day. I WILL show next summer. My new HRIR will be too old, so they'll be DQ'd, but am pretty sure there are no other HRIR in the county...
I sent an email request to Support asking if there would be some way to import all of Mr. Blosl's public posts in one place, maybe https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/832171/robert-bob-blosls-words-of-wisdom ...
I did suggest perhaps if it is difficult or time consuming we might be asked to...
