Yes, they are the same thing. I have grown them in beds for the past few years and they quickly grow to 10 feet. You may want to consider planting in beds as they have the tendency to take over. On another note, gophers love them so beds or baskets should keep them safe.

Another good shade plant that grows fast are sun chokes. They will get up to 10' tall in 2-3 months and die back in the winter to allow the sun to warm the coop. Be careful with them tho. Sun Chokes are very prolific and will take over. They are best grown in a raised bed. Sun Chokes are not...
That should work well for you. The dickey has a hatching tray on the bottom but not sure how well it would work since the humidity for hatching needs to be higher. I also like the fact that my Dickey is always clean since I don't hatch in it.
