May I interject with a quick question?
Is there a time in the fall when breeders are selling stock they've chosen not to over-winter for whatever reason? When is too early and when is too late to go-a-searching?

Getting the Standard and going to shows= highest priority. At this point I don't know how people make a final breed choice without doing those two things.

How can you tell? Are there certain "go to" characteristics that will give away a strains heritage when looking at photos?
I would love to have a level of understanding for when I'm looking at breeders web pages. For that matter, for birds in the flesh.
