Thank you for all the great info and advice on coop size. I guess we are just so new to chickens that I'm not sure which directionwe will go with it. I ordered 5'x6' saltbox coop plans yesterday but now I'm second guessing myself if it will be big enough. I want the chickens to be comfortable...

Can anyone please point us in the right direction on coop size? We have six chixs right now...now...I'm sure we will get more. What is a nice size coop? I plan on building a big run for them too. I'm not planning on having them free range at first due to a neighbors dog that likes to visit us.

Fisherlady, thank you for all the great info. We are definitely on the same page as you in terms of a coop. The winter here had been really cold this year so I built a staging coop in the garage to keep the chicks warm and happy for a few weeks while I build a big coop outdoors. They sure are...

Nice pic! We have been trying to identify what kind of chickens we have. We got them from tractor supply 4 weeks ago( they were a week old when we got them). My daughter loves everything to do with the chickens. She helps clean the cage and feed them . I would have never thought she would be so...
