Well, my goodness... I'm still going with a little roo. Does this little one have thick legs? Does it posture up nice & tall when it hears a funny noise or sees something happening?
My little one is super bold, always was & also has always stood super upright. He started crowing a couple...
My little guy is definitely a cockerel! Your little one looks like a roo, too with that big ole pink comb, but I'm certainly no expert. It's also hard to say because of the mixed breed?
I'll be interested in any updates... keep in touch!
I'm feeling pretty down because if Pineapple & Penny (my brown EE chick) are BOTH boys... ugh... I should have bought from the straight run bin (that my feed store doesn't have)! Geez, you don't expect 50/50 out of 4 SEXED pullet chicks.
I guess I should play the dang lottery!
@debid Thanks for your reply! It would be great if Pineapple turned out to be a hen! We're definitely holding out on rehoming until we know for sure... then until "he" creates a problem. We're definitely not going to jump the gun on it even though I'm anxious about the sex. However, "he's"...
Well, that makes sense... Izzy has zero competition! We will proceed with Pineapple & just see where it goes. Thanks so much for the input, it's very reassuring!
@newchickmomma4 That's great news about them being pretty accurate!! Even if little Pineapple does turn out to be a boy IDK how the heck I'd get a switch my by son....? They're pretty big now & I'd feel bad just getting one tiny chick. Plus, since we committed to him I'd rather see for...
Well, that article scared the bejeezus out of me, but I feel very confident that I can handle almost anything. It's my son I worry about. The article is right that it's my responsibility to keep my son safe & if something ever were to happen I'm totally to blame... . This is what makes me want...
@Veer67 Thanks for your input... I definitely agree with you & appreciate your input. Now just the dilemma of what to do? I think my hubby & I have decided that we will keep him until he gives us a reason not to. He's still friendly... I hope with a lot of handling & positive human...
Feathering out mostly white, with red splashes/spots/speckles (really difficult to see in photos) on "HER" wing feathers?
Age in photos approximately 2.5 weeks.
Photo update!!
These little munchkins are a week old today! They've been named Pineapple (the "Red Sex-Link"), Penny (the Ameraucana), Miss Marbles (the Silver Laced Wyandotte), & Hattie (the Barred Rock).
You can see a lot more of a reddish, rusty color on Pineapple now... I do indeed think...
Oh this is actually wonderful news!!
I was also wondering if the light colored one was indeed a Golden Buff/Red Star/Golden Sex-Link because she just doesn't seem to fit the "normal" bill.
All of these babies have very long wing feathers & the cutest little tail nubs that look like they're...
Hey everyone!!
This is my first post to the forum & I just want to say how excited I am!!! I had chickens growing up in the 90s, but then I grew up, moved away for college, started my career, got married, had a son & now I'm back to chickens! I'm so glad to have such a wonderful resource for...
