Well, my batch of eggs are due to hatch in 6 days, so I am now leaning towards lying them on their sides but propped up. It does seem to be more of a challenge for the chick to get out of an upright egg than one that is vertical. I guess Gravity is working on its side lying down.
As for...
So out of 4 eggs, one hatched, but broke the shell all around, but never broke the membrane. So 36 hours after the first pip I help break the membrane and the chick popped out! The other 3 chicks seem to have died exactly around day 18. I have no idea why? I moved them into the egg cartoon on...
Yup, I hope so too! It is first time I am attempting to hatch upright! I will see what all the fuss is about! Things are back to normal, so I will leave the eggs in the turner tray!
Thanks!
The strangest thing I have ever experienced! The temp stays at 101F with egg cartoon in the incubator, so I just placed the plastic turner piece on the floor of the incubator with the egg just sitting in it and the temp immediately went back to 100F. It is really bizzare! I guess I will just let...
When I place the small piece of egg cartoon into my incubator, the temperature went up to 101F. My incubator is a Styrophome Gensis 1533 with a fan and an automatic turner. Is this temperature dangerous? Is there anything I should do? Why does this tiny piece of egg cartoon cause the temperature...

Amazing!! Today is day 18! Time to transfer them into the egg cartoons!! What is a good hatching humidity! Currently at 47, thinking of raising it to 65 percent! It is so cold and dry her with Fall arriving! Burr!!
So I am on day 15 and I soon have to make a decision on how to hatch my shipped silkie eggs. They have wobbly air cells at the moment, but seem to be developing well! I am leaning towards letting them hatch upright in an egg cartoon. Those who have used this methods with shipped eggs can you...
