    I'm not waiting on my first egg ever per say buy I'm waiting on a project batch of pullets to start laying. They're 17 weeks old this Saturday and already reddening and growing wattles.

    generally once they sexually mature they will start laying within a couple months. Now,I've had 12 weeks old attempting to breed but they definitely were not laying anytime near that sge.

    depends upon breed. I've had them start laying just a few days shy of 16 weeks for hybrid production type breeds. Most of Your more heritage type and exotic/rare breeds are 6 To 8 months. Now, my large fowl cochins were almost a year before ever laying.
