Free EE cockerel to good home. Little guy is 6 weeks old. Got him from McMurray hatchery with my meat birds. He is starting to crow and would make a good rooster for somebody who free ranges their birds. I am in Boulder but can have him delivered to Butte of Helena, but would prefer pick up.
Lost one of my meaty chicks yesterday. Not sure why. I guess it happens. Everybody else is still happy and healthy. They LOVE the fermented food. Since this is my first batch, I have no control group to base my testing on......yet.
There is information scattered here and there. I read most of it and took the key points from each article. So far it's super easy and from what I hear will be very beneficial for the birds and my pocketbook. The new arrivals love it, and so do I because now I don't have to worry about them...
Started some fermented feed yesterday for the girls and my new arrivals, which should be showing up today (I saw they were in Billings yesterday). I am very curious to see the difference between it and standard feed.
My chickens had no problem going into their coop. I keep the food and water in the run. i just make sure to give them fresh food and water before i head out to work. I don't even lock them in at night. The run is fairly secure. Besides with the three dogs I have guarding them, I don't worry...
Mine are about 8 weeks old now and will have been in their coop for about a week. I was a bit nervous about that earlier this week but they did just fine.
