Not real sure. It's kinda like when you plant your garden by the moon (ie. plant root crop by the dark of the moon). Certain phases of the moon give better hatch rates.

I've a Cochin that was Broody in Dec, hatched 2 chicks Jan 4th. She's broody again. I've given her 10 eggs to sit on. Hope they all hatch!!
