LOL. I know better, just figured I had such bad luck with shipped eggs that these were duds too. Going to try to kick back a bit longer, but it's sooooo hard......... So far last chick is still alive in bator but still not holding onto much hope...................... Crap........ I've got a...
Crap!!! Today is day 23 on my shipped LB eggs. I had one hatch last night and one that had made zero progress on it's pips since yesterday around 10 am. So my plan was to pull the chick and dump my eggs and get the bator cleaned for some Guinea eggs. I was curious why the chick that pipped...
So far my home stock has given me good hatch rates, 75%+. So far locally purchased eggs that have traveled by car several hours but not by mail have given me a 50%+ hatch rate. And I have had very poor shipped hatch rates. 8 Dorking eggs, zero hatch. 5 Birchen Maran, zero hatch. 12 LBs one...
Sorry to read about the chicks with the curled toes. My very first chicks were given to me, they were Buff Orrpingtons and several had curled toes. I never splinted or booted them and they all learned to mingle and adapt. Oddly enough the ones with curled toes all turned out to be roosters...
You didn't insult me at all, lol!!!! It takes a lot to insult me. I believe everyone's, tastes, likes, dislikes, ideas and lives are their own!!! This is my very first time working with Dorkings, my oldest birds are these 2 almost 7 week old Dorkings. What interested me the most was just how...
Phyrst, I took some pics of my 6 week old Dorking for you to see. I'm still not sure what sex they are. Hoping 2 pullets. I hatched 6 more to add to them, all from the same egg stock so looking for different eggs or chicks to add next spring. But here they are!!
The 1st and 3rd bird are...
OH and I too want to see the LO!!!! My friend hatched some late last week, I'm hoping to see her today and get a peak at her chicks!! They look like beautiful birds!!!!!!
And forgot to say I set 39 LB yesterday!!! Getting some super cool purple, blue, chocolate and cinnamon guinea eggs...
Congrats to all on the cute little fuzzy butts!!! Can't wait to see more pics!!!
Fellow Mainah, some breeds are a little slower could be that the FBCM are faster to mature. I'd have to say, Hang in there a bit longer!!!!! My SFs were slower to hatch then any of the others I had in the...
Hard to say some move quiet a bit others not much at all. Then when your first one hatches it tends to move all over the place and shakes the eggs around too, so you may or may not see them rock a bit.
I also have 9 ordered LB eggs that went into lock down late Monday night. I've not seen...
Good morning all!!! What a rough day yesterday was. I'm not sure I've ever been so sick, ever.... And on my birthday, what a rip off, lol....
But I am feeling about 90% better this morning, yea!!!
I'm so happy for all of you that have chicks and I know the heart break of those that have...
I've never had a hatch as slow as this. I expected the majority to hatch yesterday. A few from yesterday but most came today, could be my temps were a little low. Could be the air cell was not ready, due to the humidity. I hope you get some chicks soon!!! Oh and the 2 assisted Dorkings are...
