Their ancestors would be ashamed of them 🤣

That's what I'm considering, I just don't have much that I could tie it up with The thing is they're so messy it will still be spilled....

I can't financially afford to deal with every part of the problem. Nor do I have the energy currently I'm doing the best I can with what I have. The feeder I can deal with, I planned on making one, but ended up using that container to help me with another problem. Step 1, reduce the...

Admittedly my feeder is very poor, its on the ground and the rats have a very easy time coming and going I am thinking about changing it to a different feeder, something the rats will have a harder time getting into... That said, the problem is decreasing, again. I've resorted to poison which...

I probably wouldn't put anything in my girls food anyway, for a number of reasons, including simply being on the safe side. But also if I put food on the outside of my pen, the rats hardly bother with the food in my duck pen- they go for the easier food that isn't being guarded by big birds. As...

That sounds very clever I'm not too worried about other animals though, as I have an idea where they store it but it's super hard for me to access it frequently, it entails moving very heavy stores. Only rats and mice can get underneath, though, so not too worried there

Okay I think I may have done a clever thing, would be a first Baking powder, mixed into peanut butter- I put it out, waited, and sure enough, they came and licked it all up I know it's not a humane method, but I'm running out of options here and need to get their numbers down before more arise...

I have a husky cross, who is usually super upset about squirrels, birds, cats in the yard-- sent her out to chase the rats away and she just stood there like "it's cold. Please can I come back in?" Useless, but I still love her 😂

That's a really good idea, I hadnt thought of it. I could possibly do that

Rat problem almost solved, and the one thats left...

This is true, the method that I'm mainly on now is poison, which, while inhumane, will likely get the problem overwith most quickly. And the way I (am choosing to) think about it, the faster they're dealt with, the less future rats that deal with the harsh cull methods. Hopefully I can reduce...

That's fine, I know they drove them out, but they've still taken their place I've only seen a wild red squirrel once. And that was while camping on an island, I want to protect them, there. And prevent the greys getting in or taking over their islands- but here on the mainland it is what it is...

I get that about the squirrels, but in my view, and this is just my view, nature finds its balance. Grey squirrels have been part of our wildlife for such a long time. We don't really have reds anymore. Why shouldn't the greys be accepted at this point? They're never going to disappear. Keeping...

Nope, I was definitely being naiive, unless more rats have moved in, they were just laying low after all. I keep seeing two at a time, eating my ducks food, so that my poor girls are not only dealing with the stress of the rodents, but also going hungry for large parts of the day, and I'm not...

Well, I'm probably speaking much too soon, but I haven't seen a single rat, or sign of a rat, since the trap confusion. Maybe still out there, but I think my neighbours or their cats may have eliminated the remaining ones. Either way, population is continuing to decline. I'm having a spring...

The bait inside was eaten, so I think whatever it was must have put its head inside, I can't see any sharp edges, but the metal trigger plate could possible have been sharp enough to cut. Cats rarely come in the garden, but are a possibility, dogs can't get in

Sure wish I had one set up, really confused as to what went on last night

I am dumbfounded. Im waiting on the electric trap to arrive, so still using my livetrap until it gets here. I accidently left it outside of the pen last night, typically not a big deal, but it leaves the trap open to anything. Well, today I found it gone off, several feet from where it was set...

I have considered it, as much as I'd dislike the sight, if that's more likely than poison to be humane, that will be my plan B, I think. The only problem is if it comes down on a limb and then I'm forced to put it out of it misery 😬 yes, surprisingly it is legal to relocate rats and mice...

That is the beauty of live traps! I currently have a live trap, I experienced the same, it took on average 2 weeks in-between catches, once one is caught, it will screech and the others will learn to be wary of the trap. Once I have the trap empty, I set it back up on safety and scatter bait at...
