We have a new one being built here in West Oz, also talking about a grey water treatment plant. We have very long dry spells and a thirsty state.

At first I thought 'thats crazy, going to jail for collecting rain water' As I scrolled through the details though, seems kind of reasonable. 13 million gallons in three man made dams that have not inspections is a serious amount of water to go wrong should the dam fail!

Could you run a feed and return pipe/hose and join both together so the breeder water also runs through your grow bed water? I watched a really cool video on a bell siphon for those grow systems. Caveat, not rain water related but is aquaponics related!

I don't have a heap to offer, I was just shocked to read in the other thread that is was illegal to catch your own rainwater as 'it was someone elses downstream' Never in a million years would I have expected to hear that. He in Australia, water catchment is supported, we are water short...
