The LG 9300 does have a bad rap. We've used it and yes, the hydrometer reading is way off and the temp needs to be set higher to get it to be where it actually needs to be. However, for the price, we are having great success. 90 % as a still air unit the first time and currently 22 out of 24...

I think this is highly under-appreciated. I had 2 sets of eggs, several from my own flock and several from a neighbors. I did not know his flock diet, or how he had stored the eggs prior to incubation. My eggs had a 100% success rate; his had 33%.  I candle all the way up to external pip :P we...

you should be fine. The air sacks have probably already developed enough by day 16 so higher humidity should not have an impact. Best of luck

That view just shared is why we were all sorts of in the bator during the hatch. A few posters shared as much. We figured the hen isn't doing rocket science so as long as we weren't just leaving it open we would be good. Had a great hatch. This time we even candled on day 4. Stay close to 100...

Not at all. However, we removed them after only two hours though. Our humidity is kept very high and like another poster told us, we don't have to worry about the small drop in humidity as we grab a chick. It climbs right back up.some folks are more hands on than others. I can't keep my hands...

We are fairly new to this too and simply followed things we read about incubation. 90% hatch rate in a LG9300 still air our first try. This time we added a fan and set FBCM and Blue Americauna eggs so we'll be having the same issues you are with having a difficult time seeing. However, if the...

got the fan kit off of ebay. It cost 15.99 with free shipping. Temps are holding great now that it is blowing in the right direction. The highest we've gotten was 100.7 for a few seconds.

So glad we added a fan to our LG9300. After changing it to blow up instead of down, the temps got stable and have held between 99.1 and 99.9 over the last 12 hours or so. We start day two this afternoon but our confidence in the fan is growing.

Always candle from the big end. The light goes thru the air sack and illuminates everything better. If you have trouble seeing the sack just move the light a little to the side of that end. Candeling thru the air sack end is more important towards the end of incubation when the embryo is filling...

After reading what was written the realisation that the fan was blowing the wrong direction hit. Luckily we didn't overheat anything and it took 10 minutes to change it and get it blowing upwards instead if down towards the eggs.

To get a better average temp, we're only putting 24 eggs without any beneath the heater element and fan or close to the turner motor. The thermostat sensor sits directly below the fan, on the turner, and we get better air distribution as air hits the plastic support and spreads inside the bator...

FBCM and Blue Americauna getting brought up to temp now. We also bought a couple of Easter Egger chicks today. We will make some Olive Eggers next year. The blue wheatons weren't fertile enough to monkey with but hopefully we can do those in May.

Trying to get temps stable in our LG9300 after installing the fan kit. Holy temp swings batman! Any advice other than using a closet would be nice. We want to keep it out where we can all see it so it gets regular monitoring. Just finished a hatch without a fan and had great results but want to...

Haha, good idea. What I learned from reading about and doing incubation is that there is wiggle room. Mother nature isn't making a hen do rocket science and chicks were hatched for thousands of years without me. Just do your best to stay between 98.5 and 101.5 and don't mummify your eggs. Lol...

I am glad I followed the advice to run dry. When humidity got to the low 20s I tossed a damp paper towel into the corner. That kept our LG 9300 right around 30%.
