No ,they dont really come up onto land ,aside from to nest ,and possibly to sleep.
Sadly no more pictures ,as my little grebe died Those where the first and last pictures of him. It was my fault too.

Ours never got friendly, they were always too skittish, but I can totally see a hand-raised one being amorous. The emus however....worst Christmas present EVER was being molested by an emu at 5am. XD...
punk a doodle ,I agree with everything you said but two things.
I belive that mud is better then sand for nesting. Also flamingos can get friendly....a bit to friendly ,in breeding season. The hand raised ones are really bad for showing to much "love" for people ,if ya catch my drift
