    That's gives each bird (if you keep all) 3.2 square feet each, a little closer to 4 per bird is optimal but I think if they spends lots of time outdoors you might be able to stretch it. Getting rid of one would be the easiest choice though to get te extra square footage

    They probably won't like the plastic for a roost. It's slip, maybe you could scuff it up though.. lol now I don't know. What about converting a wooden dog house into a coop and adding a small run? You could even use PVC for the run if you have a secure fence around your yard...

    Maybe your dad would be interested in helping you build a simple coop, plenty of plans for them right here on backyard chicken.

    It may be more cost effective to purchase one hand made off of craigslist or on a backyard chickens of your state on Facebook. The pre fabricated ones will not hold up as well and may be more cramped than you'd like when it comes to cleaning up after the hens.
