Pumpkins can be stored for months. The best place is actually inside straw bales assuming you aren’t overrun with rodents.
I just used some of my canned pumpkin. It tastes the same as when I use it fresh.
I was thinking the same about the rims being dirty. Reusing jars is typical, so that’s not an issue. Over heating lids might be an issue though.
If you look up how to can water, it tells you to go ahead and reuse your used lids. I did for all but two jars, and all sealed. It takes a lot to hurt...
I canned some meatballs a few days ago, and considered canning some water. I didn’t do it (brain fog), and now... I need to can some water. I guess I’ll go do that.
Moral of the story, remember to can water whenever you have room.
That’s sad. There were several YouTube videos from four days ago announcing where to find supplies. At least we know of another place to keep an eye on.
I checked Amazon, those prices aren’t right! :th Check drug stores. It’s one place I forget to check for things, and about half the time it’s cheapest there.
Since dairy is now against the government’s food safety guidelines (I don’t think any of us care), you have to be as safe as you can. It should be treated as a meat. In her case, that was 75 minutes. It stores 3-5 years pressure canned.
If you aren’t pressure canning, it should be shelf stable...
Today I saw a woman can butter. I never thought of it. She did teach me something though. I use water to wipe rims, but it’s practically useless for wiping fat away (all those showers I took...). She uses vinegar. :thumbsup
Perfect age for both hand tools, and kid size long handled tools. :thumbsup Duckling has both (though has outgrown the “long” handled tools), and even I occasionally use them. Under $15 on Amazon.
