Egg 45 and expect 2 more tomorrow, like clock work, so reliable..... only 1 got smashed, in late Dec...found bits of eggshells near Rosie's bed and 2 ft away a dead rat ...flattened..she must have clouted this egg by accident, with getting the big rat....lol
Egg 28 minus 1 today, saw bits of egg shells on edge of Rosie's bed,....and 2 ft away a huge dead flattened Rat.... Ouch...they must have clouted this rat and hit egg by mistake, Rosie always carefully covers the egg up... but this time they had a good brekki lol
It depends on demand of chicks ...or even eggs ? Here in UK there are lots of chicks...young . and adults for sale...seem not to sell well and have been for many months... it has never really taken off since DWA licence was removed.
Missed posting, had #13 and # 14 . on 1.1. 2014...Jasmine is doing overtime, another on second day, and even bigger 765 gr.lol you would have thought, it may be smaller ?
My younger male went broody towards end of laying last season....but had no eggs, as I always collected them, so filled an old egg with some silversand, sealed and he sat on it, but not for long, about a week, lol must have sussed, it was not the real thing...you can't fool this clever Emus lol
11 th egg this morning...blew 3 as the 1st few are never fertile...at least with the Rhea egg candling at 12 days... made lovely omelettes for all of us....bantams, turkeys, cats and dog..and rest in incubator...Rosie's were 3 - 4 days...and Jasmine just 2 days...what a clever girl lol.
# 9 this morning...same haybed as usual ...just one more for incubator...then hope to make some Emu eggs buyers happy lol if only they know what fantastic Pets they really are.. only ....in the right hands though.

Joe.......any chance of being disturbed of nasty predators or even steal eggs ?? My very 1st eggs Rosie laid in very cold, was actually minus 13 one night, and heavy snow followed for many weeks, found 3 eggs solid frozen in nest, unknown to me, that she would lay so soon...it didn't seem to...
