Not necessarily. I have dogs that you could play with for 10 hours a day, and they would still attempt to escape when you were done. They are just that energetic. The electric fence worked for them. Now they confine play time to the backyard, where they belong.

Will a very short section of standard post fit over the top rail? Slide it over, use a couple of washers as shims if need be, drill through the whole thing and bolt into place, two bolts one on top of the other, at 90 degree angles from each other.

Amazing. I read that like two times and glazed right over that. Not that it matters to me, I was just wondering if there was another page of rules I missed somewhere or something. BTW, the thing about kids under 13 isn't a rule so much as this tidbit: "* Our Policy Toward Children: We do...

    Neighbor's dog killing my chickens

There is a difference between a heavy duty dog chain and a heavy duty chain. There are chains that will not be broken any time soon, even by a very active dog, that aren't too heavy for them to pull around. I still think that a properly set up electric fence is the best way to contain most dogs.

I disagree. All animals are capable of going off unhinged for no apparent reason. Just like people. There's not always an obvious reason. Sometimes there are reasons that simply are not apparent, and have nothing to do with mistreatment. Dogs are just as capable as humans of having strange...

    Neighbor's dog killing my chickens

Yeah, I was a kid not that long ago. I've learned a few lessons, at the expense of my animals. I had dogs that I let roam free, they were absolutely non aggressive dogs. They liked to chase cats, but didn't know what to do with them when they got them. I saw one of them get a cat on it's back...

Can you post a link to that? I just checked the rules and I didn't see anything about that, just stuff about kids under 13 years of age. I'm certain I must have missed it though. Kids can learn. Maybe this will help, if she reads it. I had an attack today, by a neighbor's dog. The dog is from...

    Neighbor's dog killing my chickens

You can't afford a couple hundred dollars to fence off even 2 acres for the chickens and dogs to roam? What is the value of the eggs that aren't going to be laid now? What happens when you kill his dog, and he gets mad that you are letting your dogs free roam your property (And presumably, his)...

Electric fencing is cheap. Like, really cheap. Everything but the posts can be had for under a hundred dollars. Not sure what the layout of your property is, since 5 acres can be long and skinny, but posts can be very cheap as well if need be, 2x4s ripped in thirds and then cut in half, you end...
