Vetrap is the best one I found and also, hubby is an EMT, he found first aid supply with some bandages that looks like Vetrap but it is the none sticky kind. It held up really well with the walking and so forth. Flexi-wrap I think it is called. I would not isolate the hen from the flock because...

GC, if she has no redness, puffiness, swelling, just leave her be as long she is up and alert and eating well. Just keep a close eye on her wounds, keep up with the cleaniness, neosporin her wound, bandage it up daily until you feel like has healed up which you have already done. You have done well!

A live chicken burrito! Yes it sure does beat flailing wings which they do hurt! Once the towel is wrapped, they just calm down and I take one end of the towel and cover their heads and they would just close their eyes and wait it out. My hen put up with the slurry treatments pretty well and...

Bumblefoot surgery - with pics and "how to"

Would it hurt, you asked? I am sure they do! It probably felt to them the worse splinter they would ever had and the digging, yeeeoow! However they may have higher pain threshold than we do. Not sure if the LA200 would help but anything you can think of that would boost their immunity to fight...

Bumblefoot surgery - with pics and "how to"

Okay got my Wellie from the vet with RX orders. She had bumblefoot in both feet and one foot is fine, healing nicely and the other one was still infected. The vet did not find any plugs or cheesy matter, just blood. She said it was a hardening of the tissue and it would require surgery if she...

Bumblefoot surgery - with pics and "how to"

My hen is doing just fine. One foot is mending pretty good and the other one was swollen up to her ankles and mid leg and it was very warm to the touch. With all the soaking and digging, I finally said enough and called the vet for appt. It will be Thursday and maybe they can suggest something...

Bumblefoot surgery - with pics and "how to"

Washed out her feet good, soaked and one pad of her foot looks very good and the other one is stubborn, so I picked again, made it bleed alot, medicate and wrapped it back up again. I sure hope she will heal sooner. I love the Vetrap bandage, it really does help keeping the bandage/med on and...

Bumblefoot surgery - with pics and "how to"

I took my hen out with banaged feet and she did well so far during the night. She was comfortable perching on her perch with the others without any ill effects. I really do not see a need to put her in the cage unless she has something else going on with her. Just go ahead and treat her, wrap...

Well I HAD to know if she had bumblefoot, and yes, she did! AAAAARRRGH! I followed the surgery on this forum and yep what a great help and what to look for! I had a pair of tweeters, fingernail clippers and no scapel. Hubby suggested a box cutting knife. Be very careful using box cutting knife...

Bumblefoot surgery - with pics and "how to"

Very informative. I think one of my Wellies might have one but will wait until tonight to make sure she didnt step on anything that caused some swelling. She is not limping but a little tenderfooted. If that is the case, then it is a very first time I ever had bumblefoot in my chickens after...
