Results from nationals. The Judge, who I think is pretty good in OZ, said "nice bird" to the one I posted above. I think the tail is too long but he said the foundation are there.

“A very good effort.” Said the judge. Got a ribbon as best in class at a class. As I have to compete with more established breeds and colours, there were a number of birds in AOV . As we showers know it is hard for a blue to compete against other colours etc. So I must be doing something right...

I agree, I have one with red ear lobs and yellow legs but her tail is far too long, at least yours has the body shape, it is all in the sharing.

I took my hens and cockerels for comment (which are not there yet). I find that it takes my pullets a good 18 month + to achieve their body shape.

I was really surprised that the judge gave him 1st, I think he was overwhelmed by his size. Judges in OZ have never seen a Blue Rock and I do not think they are over the standards. I put him in the show to create discussion which I got. We will see what happens at the nationals next month, I...

Agree, so did the show manager (who is a friend) just a matter of which, may take a shot gun approach and give 6 good hens/pullets. The problem in my mind is that he is so big I may have to give him hens as the pullets take a good 12 months to gain size. I have a couple of months to go before I...
