Is there any hope for me raising spring meat birds in a yard that often floods?

For us it was about the length of a car and half the height. My husband moved it all to the back of the yard in a day by himself (he was highly motivated). It may not be as much as you think. The bottom will slowly compost in the rain, and it's like putting your birds on a forest floor type...

Try your municipality/city and see if they have a sign up. Contact tree companies and ask about dropping you a load of mulch. Should be free or a nominal fee like $20 or so. Leaves will get soggy and should be mixed with something so chickens don't slip and they stay aerated...

Is there any hope for me raising spring meat birds in a yard that often floods?

Yeah, what you just described was totally not what I thought you were asking about. If you basically turned the pre-fab run into their coop, I think that might work pretty well, as long as the ventilation is sufficient and you can keep them dry throughout their coop and run. Just make sure...

Someone on here was feeding cherry shrimp to their chickens because they had too many of them breeding in their aquarium. So many tasty chicken treats/supplements can be grown in a pond.

I think he recommended 1/2" x 1" wire as big enough for poop to fall through but not to small to support their feet. I also think there were earthworms involved somewhere.

Please don't do that. Using that for Cornish Cross is in my opinion a very bad idea. But if you must, I'd do no more than 2 chicks, and here's some additional thoughts. If you built a larger run than what's shown here, it might be possible to do more than 2, but I think they'd be sleeping in...

Unless you have somewhere it can drain into, pipes are of limited use - the water would just sit in them and create a nasty smelly mess. That's why I didn't recommend french drains - cause you have no obvious low point (that I can see anyway). I think you'll have to make a low point. Here's a...

Is there any hope for me raising spring meat birds in a yard that often floods?

Oh no! No way would I raise them where they might be in that kind of water. I'm on my first batch of meat birds, so there is that, but I've had chickens for about a year now, and had to manage some much milder flooding than you have. I couldn't tractor mine due to my land being all types of...
