After my 17 quail hatched, I cleaned out the last incubator and stored them away. Hatching season is over for me…until the Easter HAL next year!
Good luck to the rest of you!
It’s my first quail hatch! Meyer hatchery has a Coturnix mix that I ordered with my aunt (she is down to only 3 quail and wanted more so she let me hatch). Next year I am hoping to hatch them for peole once we have fertile eggs! 😊 I’d love to keep quail too…only time will tell…
Woke up to 16 baby quail, with another pipped! Out of 22 shipped eggs, I am super happy! One egg was damaged, one obvious clear, and I thought one more was clear last time I checked. So if 19 started, and I get 17…😳
You ended up with an awesome variety of colors! ❤️ Adorable!
I hope what you have left all make it to the end!
I have 8 quail out now! I’m planning on leaving them in the incubator until tomorrow morning. They should be ok that long, right? Brooder and heat plate are ready but I’d rather wait...
Maybe time to deep clean the 360? Have you taken the fan cover off and gotten the feather dander out? Is it hotter/cooler/sunnier in the room they are in?
Where are they starting to look like quitters, in the Kebonnix or 360? I’ve had super good success with the Kebonnix, and I love the 360 as well.
Congratulations! They are beautiful.
I bought CCL eggs from Meyer last year but they didnt have any in stock last time I checked. They are not easy to hatch, I think due to a depleted gene pool, I had 3 of 6 get to lockdown, and only 2 hatch, both pullets when of course I was hoping for 1 of each,
I have 21 eggs, but doubt that...
I think I’ll candle again tomorrow, day 8. Coturnix hatch on day 17, so that means lockdown on day 14! 😳 I have my newborn brooder ready for them, hopefully they will be ok in it for a week or two, as my other two brooders (dog crates) are both being used by the new chicks. Then I can pass them...
I set 21 assorted coturnix quail eggs from Meyer Hatchery on Monday. They should hatch around July 14 I think? 18 days for coturnix quail?
I’m doing a HAL if anyone wants to follow there or help out with specific quail stuff. I’ve only ever hatched chicken eggs so this is very new to me!
