Then put a couple of hot wires around the bottom edge of the coop...say an inch or two below entrance height and maybe 3-4 inches below that...use regular insulators nailed straight to the coop for the top wire and stand-off insulators maybe 2-3 inches long for the lower wire. That will most...

Yes, the metal side had to be a smooth expanse of metal...it seems the person working on the fly-in coop even warned against screw heads sticking out that the coons could hang a toenail in... Greasing a pole/post or whatever... Purple martin landlords have tried greasing the poles to their...

What about putting a landing platform/porch outside of the door for them to land on? There's already an edge (2x4 framing) that a coon could grab onto at the edge of the coop so a porch will not increase a coon's possibility of access...hopefully the 4' height will be out of reach for them. The...

Howard E, what you speak of regarding the hawks reaching into cavities for prey is much similar to how owls prey on purple martins while nesting in gourds. The owls will grab ahold of the entrance hole with one foot and reach in with the other claw. If that doesn't work they will commence to...

A game camera will indeed identify the predators so that you might be more precise in your attempts to repel their attacks. But, if I had to choose between and electric fence or a game camera the electric fence would get my money first. My thought is that I would rather see pictures from a...

@clownychick , what did you bait it with? I would think a little dab of canned cat food would work...but a piece of sardine should work great, too, then you get to eat the rest of the can. Some crackers, a little hot sauce,...ah, the life!!!!!

A good friend of mine was rehabbing his morther's old house and found a large pile of droppings in one room. He had no idea what was leaving them but whatever it was would go to the same spot on the floor and add to the pile. He put a large rat trap beside the pile of droppings. I can't...
