Update:
Finally found which hen that lays greenish eggs. She's a white. Of course, she's the "most pet quality" of them all..
For personal reasons, I have to reduce my flock of chickens and peafowl. As part of this, decided to either reduce the silkies/showgirls to a very few birds.. or...
No, the answer is "nobody knows until it is done" as for white x color breedings. It's just impossible to answer someone who asks this with exact answers as to what colors the babies will be is all. It is true though, the results could be "all over the place" as for colors/patterns.. Go ahead...
White isn't a color.. it's a gene that prevents whatever colors a bird has from becoming visible. Like spray painting a black bird with white paint.. bird is genetically black but you can only see the white.
So a white x any color is anybody's guess due to this reason.
Blue x black= 1/2...

The reason I entertained the possibility of partridge is because I get partridge chicks in all sorts of patterning- from the usual...
Well here's a mini-update:
Happened to catch this chick in process of hatching from a green egg:
Looks like a white, with Silver (the slight tint to the down might be due to silver- it's definitely present in my whites). It has a 50-50 chance of having the green egg gene.. 75% if the father...
That sounds similar to the 'mystery color' in my flock. I'll try to take pictures soon of both those and some of the others.
I don't know why, most of my projects include having blue/green layers in them also. Probably just to make it more of a fun genetics challenge. Right now one of my...
No secrets.. it was pretty much a matter of keeping the pullets long until they started laying and either picking out the colored egg layers or just simply hatching only the colored eggs out of the group of pullets out of the colored egg "line".
I also bred the pullets each generation back to...
I already have blue/green egg laying Silkies and Showgirls. Took several years and generations to get them back to good type though after the first cross..
