Another source option is to call all local feedstores and find out who they order from, then if some one uses MM ask them to put in for the WTBs. Some stores will do this, one store out here before the owner retired used to do this, that is how I ended up with a very rare breed one time, he put...

    True Blue Whiting info please?

Yeah you could contact 4H. There are a lot of projects, some even high tech... I was a leader years ago for Horticulture. Wow on the one lady choking to death her rooster, most folks that does not happen to. Yeah the burbs is okay with someone keeping a bunch of loud parrots but roosters are...

    True Blue Whiting info please?

Yeah it could be not true. On the Aracunas yes they have a lethal gene but it depends how you breed them... tufted to tufted then yes your mortality rate will be high, but tufted to non tufted will lower the mortality rate though producing less tufted birds as well. If you wanted non SQ hens...

    True Blue Whiting info please?

Grey eggs seem to require the blue gene... but exactly what else in the browning genes I don't know, but I think they are cool. When grey eggs are gotten wet they look green... so blue gene required with specific bloom pigments to turn green grey looking.

    True Blue Whiting info please?

My two birds lay pale blue, but when I photgragh the eggs the eggs look washed out. In looking at eggs my birds lay to me they seem consistent, however if they where on the green scale I would expect a cyclic color variation because of how the browning works, and thinking back on my brown layers...

Well the one I learned from the ladies is commonly listed on the net as a myth but they swore by it and I used it back when we selected chicks for our much larger flock from straight runs and I had good results. Basically you flip or have the store employee flip the chick upside down if it...

    True Blue Whiting info please?

I am wondering if the hatchery makes a difference, I went to every feed store remotely around me and inspected how the kept the chicks, asked about where they purchased the chicks from, and looked at all the different breeds they had... did the chick look right for the breed... several feed...

    True Blue Whiting info please?

Yeah I saw that feedback too. I started research egg genetics in general as I wanted to know how or why some folks got green vs blue eggs out of their hatchery Americaunas aka the EE. My first ee was I think from MM, and it laid a rather pale drab green egg. Years latter I have birds again and...

    True Blue Whiting info please?

Could be they are from younger hens, it seems to me that the eggs are smallest and lightest based on age of hen and when in the cycle of the hen the eggs are collected. There are some genetics involved to get the real blue look... one is a gene that makes the egg look shinny on top of the O gene...
