Mine just lay and leave. Occasionally I will open the nesting box and someone will be there, if so, I close it and let them be. But they are gone later. I have left the eggs there for a few hours, but all the hens are in the run, doing their thing. Guess no broody ones there.
So, my guess as to gender would be female because the of the wings feathers. It looks like the 2 outside feathers are growing longer. In a male, they grow evenly. I think. Also, i think the chick at the top facing, well "Up" is a RIR too. No idea on sex there.
