Great event! Made a connection for some Doms and DS10 fell in love with a GLW that we really hope is a girl (too young to tell, but it looks like a pullet to me), and when DS14 and went back to see if we could get that chick a friend, we ended up with four white Cochin pullets. Three have tail...
Thanks msbear, I can get to Sharpsburg fine - our 4H group stopped at Antietam Battlefield when we took the kids to Washington DC two years ago.
Good to know about the food too....I am crazy busy with work and didn't want to shop for picnic lunch stuff if I didn't have to.
Two questions I almost forgot to ask -
If I put the address in my GPS will I get there, (if not what do I need to put in so I can find the right place) and
Will there be food vendors or do we need to bring a picnic lunch?
How would I find out if anyone will have any Doms for sale? I am interested in adding two hens to our flock....we will eventually add a couple of other breeds as well (one other brown egg breed and a white egg breed) but I don't know enough about the different breeds to say which right now.
I am very excited as this will be our first poultry event of any kind! Planning to leave home as close to 7 am as possible, mapquest says it is 2 1/2 hours to Sharpsburg. Bringing a crate and supplies just in case someone has some Dominiques or some other breed I won't be able to resist.
We are planning to come to this; we've never been to a poultry swap event before, just sheep/wool/fiber and county fairs, and I needed an October field trip! Looking forward to maybe meeting some BYC peeps!
