Matilda is going to lose her feet. :(

Although her spurs have basically absorbed into her limb, they may still have a possibility of returning at some point, once the majority of the trauma to her legs is healed. Although the spur isn't there to provide an anchor point, the cup-like prosthetic may still be a viable idea if you get...

A duck prosthetic might afford her a little more stability because of the wider "foot". And you could have the first chicken with duck feet!

One more idea... you say she has spurs. If possible, you could make/have made a prosthetic that "cups" around the back of her leg and uses the spur as its anchor point. A strap above the spur and a strap below the spur. This would alleviate pressure on the actual stump end and would end up being...

I certainly wish all the best for Matilda and you as well. Don't be so hard on yourself. I can obviously see that Matilda has one heck of a support system and you've gone far above and beyond what a lot of people would do. It's a huge commitment caring for a disability, whether it be animal or...

I am also no expert by any means. I work in healthcare and have just seen some of the challenges presented by amputations and prosthetics. I really hope that between all of the suggestions that have been proposed to you, that at least one of them works for Matilda. I won't be at all offended if...

Yes, the skin would need to be intact, with no blisters, lesions or ulceration present in order for the silicone idea to work. The silicone will not breathe, therefore would hold moisture and any bacteria present on her skin would cause an infection if there is broken skin.

Matilda is going to lose her feet. :(

If you can get ahold of a silicone molding kit, I would use something slightly larger in diameter than her leg, line it with plastic wrap, coat with a release agent (if provided), mix the ingredients, then submerge her stump into it. Something like a toilet paper roll cut down to a manageable...

You're most welcome. I am really in awe of the time and effort you've spent on this lady.

One other thing I may add is that if you could possibly make a silicone mold for her that would provide some protection and cushion for her stumps would be great. Possibly make a negative mold of her stumps and trim down the excess to fit into a prosthetic. It might be worth a try and I'm just...

Hey, came across this thread and wanted to let you know if you can get on etsy and search for 3D printed chicken prosthetics or Chicken foot splints, that would give you some options. I came across them by accident months ago. Most of the shop owners are willing to work with you and customize...
