Thanks this is a good plan for me. As I keep trying to tell everyone I'm not one of those people who jumps into things and jumps from here to there, to here to there and doesn't know what they're doing, I do a lot of research on stuff before I decide to try it and figure the only way to actually...
I am in 4h and am going to join the poultry club when they start up in September. I am nit saying I am going to go to a show and expect to win I just want to try it and if it's not for me then oh well and if it is I can get better birds and more educated on it
I looked but sadly lake city is a far drive from home. I might do it sometime if I decide to get really serious or am up there anyway. Thank you again though
I was planning on just getting the chicks in like April (9 months away) and by the time I show them as adults.....I have months to research and learn even before I get chicks. Again I'll restate this: I am talking small town or 4-h shows! I know my stuff, maybe not all I should know about breeds...
Ok thanks, I would order lots but 1: I don't have room for that many and 2: I'm not ok with slaughtering my chickens. I would just sell but back to 1 I don't have room 😕
Okay only I can't meet the parents since they are on mpc, I prefer raising chicks since I will do it anyway but are there any hatcheries with show quality birds
Ok thanks so if I buy eggs from show quality parents it doesn't mean they will be show quality? I was thinking of buying the show quality silkie eggs from mpc but I don't need that many and I really want bbs colors
I want to get some chicks in the spring and really want them to be show quality. I want at least my Ameraucanas and silkies to be show quality. I also prefer them sexed.
I had heard of a breeder in NC that has show quality birds, but don't know the name.
Thanks 😊
