Between leaving this morning and getting home around 2pm something attacked my chickens, went right through the fence. I only found one alive but it's wing had been torn off. I'm heart broken. These are my babies that I hatched myself.

'She' turned out to be a 'he' so my friend decided he needed to be renamed from Bubbles to Roo Paul, lol. He's definitely one of more interesting chickies.

This is the first chick I ever hatched in a homemade incubator at the beginning of January. Getting so big! Quite the attitude too.

Just hatched my first guinea fowl! This little guy was supposed to go into lockdown tonight but when I lifted the incubator lid to add more water and disconnect the auto turner there he was! 2 more have piped, waiting to see what the last three will do now!

I know what you mean. I have 30 in right now. Mostly from a shipped order so I'm expecting about 50% hatch rate from those.

My chicks love the heating pad! It's great.

My last baby hatched last night! 6 out of 7, bummed that one was lost but so grateful for the rest. @Knigge I also had a chick that needed help after getting attack to its shell, could finish zipping and is head was stuck at an odd angle. Glad yours made it!

He's really big, got his head stuck while zipping. Left him alone for a while but he didn't progress from morning to evening so I stepped in and removed part of the shell. Sucker kicked free in no time once his head was free. Membrane was clean, no blood. He was more than ready. Huge feet!

I'm not even sure if any of mine are male or female. Just my luck and I will also end up with all roos. I just had one hatch that's almost all black with a white dot right in the middle of its head. Very cute.

Nice! I'm building my flock from scratch right now after now after not having one for the last several years. Decided is like to try to hatch my own. It's definitely a learning experience!

I had a pip early morning Wednesday which was day 19 and another in the evening. Got up at 4am to a new chick! Hoping for more pips when I get home from work.

Day 19 and I've got a pip! My last hatch didn't pip until day 22 in the same incubator... Going to have to name it Early Bird! This egg came from a batch of shipped eggs that had badly damaged air cells, every one of them. Ordered 12, received 14 + 1 that exploded in shipping. Only seven...

Yay! How exciting! I talked to mine as they were piping and they would squeak back. Hopefully Thursday or Friday I'll have some more pips too. Congrats!
