Well...it's been a long time since I originally posted, but I wanted to give one final update on Cha Cha. I've gathered so much useful information over the years on BYC, it's only right to complete this journey. Maybe someone else can benefit from the experience. Thank you again to all who...

:( I'm not able to edit my previous comment, but I need to correct the above. Metronidazole and Monistat treat two different problems. Metronidazole is an antibiotic and Monistat is an antifungal. I'm looking for an antifungal treatment. I'm hoping she won't need it, but she may if the...

This shot was taken on 4/16. It looks pecked. Hard to tell if she ate any of it.

This pic was taken on 4/15. If she was able to produce this, could it be more likely an infection rather than cancer growing and crowding her digestive tract?

Cha Cha UPDATE I started Cha Cha on Fish Mox (Amoxicillin), 250mg capsule 2x/day, seven days ago. I’m not sure it’s doing anything. I plan to switch to Baytril now that it’s here and only if I have enough information to do it safely (Please see questions below). :idunno Most of the time she’s...

My timer went off to weigh her right before reading your post. She's 3 lbs., 8 oz. (down an oz. from yesterday) on my kitchen scale.

For the Fish Mox, I don't have a scale for mg. How precise does the measuring need to be?

I called a couple of exotic bird stores in the area, regarding the Baytril/ Enrofloxacin 10%. (Before your suggestion for injectable.)

I haven't done injections yet. Makes me a bit nervous, but if that's the way it rolls, I'll explore it. The local feed store has Thomas Labs Fish Mox, 250mg capsules. (Here comes the math. Whee!) Is that do-able for amoxicillin?

Just made a few phone calls. So far, no luck. I get referred to a vet. If you were able to get it, it must not be a CA restricted thing. (?)

Thanks! That helps. Don't you love how meds have so many different names?

Your turkey hen is in good hands! You are loaded for bear when it comes to meds on hand. The worst "refunding" I've experienced was back on 4/2 when she poured like, what felt like, a faucet upon picking her up. More recently is the little bits of food, though. I haven't witnessed the "S"...
