So it's your responsibility to take every possible precaution (including keeping everything/everyone you love/value locked in a fortified vault 24/7) to protect your things, and if those measures fail, it's your fault? Logic fail.

The way the article is presented is over the top, I was really stunned by some of the "it's only a chicken" lines in the comments; as though that somehow made it okay for the dogs to have trespassed and killed it. I guess that's why I am rather fond of our local ordinance regarding livestock...
