Any bright color on the wings is an indication of a rooster, not only brick red. I'm not saying that hens can't have colored wings, but if the color doesn't "blend" in with the bird, like the OP's chicken, it is a cockerel.

It will probably take a few weeks to get them used to your house. It's good you can swap him out :)

I agree. There's no chance it is a pullet with those wing patches.
