Yes. If it gets too annoying I will go back to the browser in my phone. When I switched to the app it was better than the browser but now the app is really glitchy. It isn’t just the emojis that have become greyed out it is everything - bold and font size and preview and bullets. All gone.

Not exactly the immediate gratification of the actual emoji bar but it works. Will it be coming back? It used to work just fine!
