The black wire on the plastic square gives the temperature. The motor for the turner runs hot, unless it quit working it should be fine. I'm running my 4250 between 101 and 102 to keep it right at 100 on the internal thermometer. My 4200 I'm running at 96 to keep it at 100 on the inside thermometer.

I have a digital thermostat in the house and I put the incubator thermometer above it and then slid the thermometer on the scale until it matched my thermostat.

It works fine as long as you use an accurate thermometer. I have the 4200 and 4250 and they both run hotter than indicated by about 2 degrees which would leave me with a poor hatching ratio. Once I got a good thermometer in it I hatched many more out of each run.

The candler light that comes with it is not very good. I use an LED MiniMag light that is much brighter and easier to see through the eggshell. But I have Marans and their eggs are so dark the provided light is useless.
