    Yes, their eyes open around day 10-14. Usually staggered over a few days, in my herd. I generally don't change the bedding unless it's obviously soiled, and even then just try to pick the nasties out. The mama fur is important for insulation on cold nights. They'll be hopping out of it soon...

    Just my opinion, but I would use pasture grasses for a portion of the rabbits' diet, not completely replace the pellets. Pellets have complete nutrition, grasses don't.

    I use pine shavings and alfalfa hay. (I used to use straw, but heard that bugs like fleas, mites, and ticks like to live and breed in the hollows.) I fill the nest box about halfway with pine shavings and a little hay, then put a lot more hay on the cage floor for the doe to take in herself.

    We're off to a rough year so far. Out of the first four does, 1) didn't deliver, 2) didn't make a nest and kindled on the wire, 3) didn't make a nest, kindled on the wire AND partially ate them, then died the next day, and 4) Success!

    Hey Jamie Dog! Woof! I miss chicken chat!!! I raise worms *near* the rabbits, in 18-gallon Rubbermaid bins. (I like the portability.) The non-peed-on "bunny berries" get shoveled off the dirt and right into the worm bins. Worms and vermicompost are big sellers at our farmers market...
