Update: All 6 babies are still alive and doing very well with their surrogate mama. She hasn't been the best mama in the past, but she sure is making up for it now! Help me keep my fingers crossed that all the babies are pullets (the sign at TSC said they were).

Oh, btw, she was off the nest and walking around. I guess she wanted a change of scenery.

I went out to check on them this morning. I was almost sure I would have one dead from getting cold because it didn't want to stay under her at first. I'm happy to announce all 6 are alive and well (2 are hidden under her).

I have a hen that has been broody for 2 or 3 weeks. She's been stealing eggs to sit on, but I take them everyday. She's determined. So, I broke down and went to TSC and bought some chicks. I swapped the eggs for them. She didn't reject them but, she still won't get off the nest. Is this normal...
