    Pheasant/chicken hybrid photos

Sounds good. I have 4 roosters, two are dominant. If a hen gets out and I toss her back, which ever of the two is closest breeds her. That is the only breeding I have seen actually, but they are still pretty young. I bet if I tossed a hen pheasant over the gate, they wouldn’t think twice.

I don’t think so but try them anyway. I don’t know about the bantams… as long as they don’t get squished!

I got a couple ringneck chicks from the feed store. I’m raising them with a batch of chickens the same age so they are used to them around breeding time. I found a guy with all sorts of pheasants but he refused to sell me chicks. He has Goldens, Mutants, Mongolians, Swinhoes, Silvers, and a...

Interesting. I was planning on getting a pair of each of jungle fowl and pheasant (tbd species) and doing a switcharoo. Plus a couple random hen chickens. Maybe instead, I’ll just look for unwanted pheasant roosters to shack up with the hens.

I have a couple questions. First, why do you always use a pheasant as the father? Is the cross more likely to be successful than with a pheasant mother? Second, how did the AI attempt go with the silver pheasants? I read your thread about them but there was no update. I want to try milking a...

    Pheasant/chicken hybrid photos

YES! I’ve been looking for people working on this kind of project. I’m super excited to see where this goes. Hopefully some of the F1s are fertile. I wonder if pheasant X jungle fowl would be more likely to turn up fertile offspring. Maybe next year, if I can source the birds this year, I’ll be...
