The nearest one I could find on that website is at least 6 hours away. I live in a very rural area in northern California. Can a necropsy be done by a local small animal vet? I'll give the nearest lab a ring.
There's no mold clups, although it occasionally gets some trails of slug slime on it. I keep it in my garage. It's a mix of layer feed, sunflower seeds, corn, crushed oyster shells and other various seeds that I don't know the name of. The hens however are slightly picky so the don't always eat...
Ok. I did just have another one of my chickens die about a week ago for unknown reasons. This one I wasnt attached to as much but it was still really weird. This hen was about a year old, Rhode Island Red and was raised by my other d'Uccle hen, Hope. The Rhode island hens death was really sudden...
Ok thanks! I'll make some scrambled eggs now. That seems to be a go-to. I'll try to find some vitamin E. Should I talk to a vet?
I'll re-check her. I just cleaned out her box, but her poops are pretty runny and white. Can I just use normal Cane Sugar to make the sugar water?
I've tried offering her strawberries which she pecked at once on Wednesday. I checked her over for any wounds, the only one is the one earlier mentioned on her face which is scabbed over. I don't have access to nutri drench, I know for a fact it's not available at my local feed stores either.
The coldest it gets here is in the high thirties and currently it's about 50 F. She hasn't eaten anything so her crop just feels very small/deflated. Right now she won't stand.
I've been giving her Coconut water and water for extra electrolytes. She hasn't laid an egg since when I found her but she was a very reliable layer before. I did check for mites, I bathe my chickens in diatomaceous earth and spray their coop once a week. I give my birds layer feed with oyster...
She wasn't made a peep! She's just been sleeping. 😭
I forgot to add, she's at the bottom of the pecking order and I think she's been getting beat up. She had some blood on her beak/comb. Her comb is cold to the touch, she very pale and her comb is very muted in color.
Hi, I have a D'Uccle hen who's probably about 5-6 years old. Her name is Tammy. I was putting my chickens away and I couldn't find her, she was underneath their hen house (which is a common place for her to be). So I pushed her out with a stick I use to herd them. She didn't run away from the...
