Hi Dennis, just want to say my 4y old olive egger and Welbar are still laying well, especially the Olive egger Boo. She has 5~6 large eggs per week, not much less than her first year. Of course, she started molting earlier every year when she's older.
:welcome
If you are ok with mail order chicks, dheltzel will have lots of nice chicks soon. His chickens all have great personality and very healthy. He has lots of hard-to-find breeds too. You can check his website: http://welbars.com . But he is at the east side of PA, so shipping will be...
None of my girls is laying eggs now. Hopefully, they will start soon. :fl I'm working on my earthworm farm now. So far so good. Already have some worm casting for my garden. Haven't had enough earthworm for my chickens yet.
Yeah, those silkied feathered chickens seems fragile. Right now, I'm quite worried about the two silkies I ordered. If they don't do well, I may never get any silkied chickens again.
I never knew silkied Cochin existing. They sounds really fun!
Maybe Pennsylvania Blue Eggers? I really miss Brownie and want another one of these, but I just ordered 6 chicks from Meyer because my son wants silkies really bad. I think he's trying to find another Sunny, even though I told him every chickens are different and no other chicken will be like Sunny.
My Rees Legbars were flighty, so they didn't really get hurt from any other chickens. The poor salmon faverolle is the one always getting picked. She can never keep her beard! She could have beard for a couple weeks after molting, then other chickens pull it off her. I really want to try Opal...
Yesterday, my Dorking was wheezing badly! It's so bad for their little body. I never had any chicken wheezing before. It sounded scary. Since my flock has respiratory disease, I just gave her some Tylan. She seems getting better today.
They are so cute! I know nothing about roosters, but my Buff Orp is always a quiet and sweet girl, who never acted like crazy. She is not a cuddler, but will let kids pet her.
That's so sad! Your Ameraucanas are nearly the perfect chickens: Friendly, beautiful, pretty eggs, great layer (at least half time). Hatcheries sell a single lavender Ameraucana chick for $99 and still have them sold out quickly. And their Ameraucanas are skittish. I don't understand why no...
Dennis, I just checked how many eggs these ameraucanas laid this month. Pepsi laid 27 eggs in 30 days! The lavender ameraucana KitKat laid 24. They’re really good layers! Actually, when daylight is longer, Pepsi obviously laid more. She hasn’t stopped once for last two weeks and is still the...
