Was able to get some well lit pics this evening to update this thread. Wilma at 13 weeks: Woody at 12 weeks...he's still got a bald spot and a 'cowlick': Woody had a growth spurt this last week or so, he was markedly smaller than Wilma before but now is a tad bigger...and I think he's...

Well, maybe. Not sure the roo will stay around, I already have a roo, he's a dark brahma mutt but I like him and he only stays because he's sweet and I like the looks of him....tho I'm tempted to eat him, harvested his son this weekend. Plus, I think these two Wellies were begat by sibs, and...

    My Welsummers

Just like bwalden predicted, I am now fully convinced that my female is a female and my male is a male. So I continue to take pics each week.....It's HARD to take pics of chicks, they never stop moving.... and I'm kind of a lousy photographer anyway. At 6 weeks Wilma seems to have most her...

I do hope you are correct bwalden.....It will be interesting to observe the progression, regardless of the outcome. As with most everything, I'm hoping for the best and prepared for the worst.

What I'm wondering now is....are the first breast feathers the true adult colors, or can they can change during one of the juvenile mini molts?

    My Welsummers

Thanks bwalden....I did not get these from a hatchery or TSC, they came from a local 'breeder', but I do not know where they got their stock from. Goal is just darker eggs, and the hens are beautiful...may keep the roo or sell him or eat him...not sure, will know in about 6 months :) I am...

@bwalden Thanks, I think they might both be older than cited...and I got no response when I asked about lines. I think that can make a difference when IDing gender at young age. @Opa No opinion on gender and age?

    My Welsummers

Thought I'd start a thread to document the development of the 2 Wellies I got this last weekend. I plan on taking new pics every week or so at first then at longer intervals as they mature. Supposed to be a male approx. 1 1/2 weeks old and a female approx. 2 1/2 weeks old...... .....but only...
