Thank you for sharing your story! We have the same issue with Stanley, but it’s both legs. She spends all her time on her belly. When she has her splints on, she is able to move around better, but she stays on her belly all the time, unless we are helping her stand on her splints and holder her...
She is able to move around better with them on and they keep her feet facing the correct way. Without them on her one left goes behind her. When she doesn’t hBe the splints on, she walks on her whole leg, not her foot.
We take the splints off when she goes in the water which is usually once a day. Or 2-3 on the weekends. When she doesn’t have the splints on her one foot is more under her, but her right foot ends up behind her when they aren’t on.
Even if she isn’t able to reach all her feathers? Would that be counterproductive for her? I just don’t want her to go more backwards than she already is. Also, here is the picture of how she sits in her splints all the time
No. It seems like she doesn’t have the strength to use her legs. She doesn’t lift her chest off the ground. And just wiggles her way around. I will attach a picture of the way she sits all the time with her splints on. And that’s basically how she moves. Just loves one foot forward then the next...
We have two ducks, Dewey and Stanley. Stanley is unable to walk. when we had just gotten her, we noticed she was stepping on her feet a lot and it looked like her hips were bulging out. As she got older and full grown, she is now unable to hold herself up anymore. we thought it was a niacin...
