I just set one in the coop, and had another one outside in the pen. They actually ended up with 3 pumpkins, as I carved one and my girlfriend carved 2, and then brought them over here for disposal. I guess you could hang them up as well. Might have to remember that thought for next year.
Probably a little late to post this, but I did take my Jack O'Lanterns that we carved and filled them with some goodies like corn, sunflower seeds and mealworms in them and let my girls go at them. easy entertainment for the girls. Just a side note, you might want to add another hole to the...
I built a pallet table for my tractor that was parked for the winter, mostly as a way to not have the heated waterer right next to the straw as they were always kicking stuff up into it, even when I had it up on blocks. I just cleaned it out this weekend to make it mobile once again. I'm...
Just got a bag of ear corn today. I've been tossing in a ear every other day or so. Figures it gives them something good to pick at and get good energy into their systems.
A big jumbo marshmellow. Tonight on AFV they had a video where somebody had tossed one into the chicken run there and the mix flock there was having a merry game of "I got it!" with it.
I had half a jar of Queso Dip in the fridge that had been there a while and I figured that it needed to go away, so I let the girls have it. Dumped most of it out on some weeds that I had pulled out into their tractor, and left the jar upside down to let most of it run out. Came back a little...
I dumped a big armload of weeds into the coop yesterday morning, and then sprinkled some dried mealworms on to the weeds and shook the weeds to drive them into the weeds a little. They had a wonderful day of tearing through those weeds looking for them.
Pity, I'm sure they would have enjoyed watching them get turned into lunch.
And I feel sorry for the horses out there that don't have people out there that will come up and smack horseflies off of them.
I knew a blacksmith when I was a kid who would amuse the kids with catching horseflies and plucking a single strand of tail hair from a horse. He would then then tie a leash around the horsefly and then tie the other end to us kids. Would keep us amused for a while with it flying around in a...
I had myself a big hunk of seeded watermelon earlier and ate it in the coop, spitting the seeds out to my girls. Word of advice, when spitting a watermelon seed on a chicken, take care that it won't bounce off of their feathers and onto the edge of your shoe. That was just a little too much...
