Good looking birds. As I noted in my post, I find the mottled Breda a bit aloof and not keen on human contact, but my BBS are the opposite. They will feed from my hand and follow me around just in case I have treats. They are all lovely birds, quite talkative with a large vocabulary of sounds...

He is already fitting in nicely! I have a couple of Breda ladies in that flock so I will be gathering up the white eggs in hope of little blue babies! :) Since I re-arranged coops and have all the boys together now it has been very interesting to interact with them. The BBS boys will eat from my...

I can imagine how difficult that decision must have been for you :( Still, it worked out for the best all the way round. I'm sure someone will have a blue for you this year. I'm not sure if I will be hatching any this year - nearer the time I expect I will change my mind! My old Welsummer roo...

Poor things! I dislike the molt for them. It looks like there has been a massacre in the barn - feathers everywhere!

That's certainly a thought, if so, the combs are a throwback from her ancestry....but I have spotted her with the Wellie . Who knows? They are cute little mutts, very friendly...hopefully hormones won't change that too much. I was hoping for a few more girls, but the 4 I shipped to...

Well, the 1st hatches are now 1 month old - what a difference! They are eating like mad and growing fast. All boys I think but lovable. As you can see the blue Breda hen was a bit of a naughty girl and must have dallied with the Welsummer rooster.... as all the blues have combs of some sort...

That is very sad to read - are you talking about the BKU club? I would love to join but I don't speak Dutch. I know there is a translation app on the computer somewhere... I also enjoy reading the Aviculture magazine that is published in the Netherlands (online in English). The Breda in the US...

Looks like you are busy Syl! Looking good.... As it happens - yes! Did I tell you that one of the Bredas decided to sit on eggs for a while? She got bored around day 8 and walked off the job. I found the eggs cool and very dirty but I put them in the incubator just in case. 2 little chicks...
