I think I may just do the cheat method and top it with a store bought crust as you suggest, that sounds more like what he remembers (and SO much easier than a "real" pie, LOL) I may make the cobbler recipe you shared the next weekend and then he can see which he prefers.

Most of the cobbler recipes I have found seem to have a sort of "dumpling" top to them. A dough that is made up and dropped by spoonfuls on top. But DH seems to remember that Grandma's cobbler had a lattice top.
I'm thinking, that Gr'ma must have made a pie, LOL.
Now that I have a couple dozen jars of blackberry jelly, DH would like me to make a cobbler out of the next few quarts I pick. I've never made a cobbler before, so does anyone have a great recipe that they could share? Thanks! ~kat
