Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

The weather in Sydney has been horrible lately, hot and humid. Today 35o and 90 klm hot winds, the smell of smoke some days is really bad, I feel so sorry for those affected by the bush fires. My girls are really feeling the heat, other than giving them lots of water what else can I do to cool...

My baby chicks are about 8 weeks now, I let them out in the run and both flew out. Are they old enough to have their flight feathers, if so can I cut them now.

Hi apps No my hens roam the backyard but I have fenced off part of the garden for the chicks. The fence itself is only about a metre and one of them today managed to fly on top of it. So at what stage do I start introducing the chicks to the hens? One of my hens is a bit older than the other...

Hi satay Love the pic, especially with your dog. I have two dogs and it worries me whether to let them near the chooks. I have an old English sheepdog and a Yorkie terrier. How did you introduce them? I would love for all of them to mingle in the yard but at the moment I isolate the dogs while...

I have 3 hens that are separated from the chicks, I let them run free in the backyard. But I want to put the chicks in the main coop run so they can get out for a bit of roaming. I am worried that they may fly over the fence and end up in the backyard with the big girls and have problems(...

Question guys........ I am new to chooks, I have 7 week old chicks raised since week 1. I want to let them out in the backyard to roam but not sure whether they are old enough to fly. When do they get their flight feathers? They seem to flap and get some height on them now.

Something funny happened today, I have three hens and two chicks about 7 weeks. I let the hens out the coop to run around and put the chicks in the coop so they could run around there and at least have a bit of contact with the hens without getting hurt, bear in mind this is my first experience...

I have a leghorn, isa brown, australorp and two mixed breed chicks. Funny though never thought much about chickens before, but they all have different personalities. I find my australorp the most interesting and friendliest.

Hi all, I live in Sydney and have bought my first backyard chickens. My husband thinks I'm crazy and is worried that our retirement home is going to be a farm and my kids think their great. Me, I have fallen in love with my chickens, they are amazing to watch.
