The pipe in the picture is 3" ABS. I used pipe insulation tape but duct tape would work fine. Edit: after you cut off the top of the plastic jar you need to make a slit in the side of it and sort of roll it conically until it fits the pipe nicely.

You can cut the top off of these plastic jars and slip a piece of 3 ft 4" PVC and now you have a week long auto feeder instead of a day just use a PVC cap to cover the pipe.
