Buff Orpingtons are great, but can be a little loud at times. I'm in the East so wouldn't know about predators in your area (apart from the two obvious ones - your doggies).

I totally agree!!!!!!!!! I love buff orpingtons, they are beautiful, great egg layers and very sweet birds! Hands down, BUFF ORPINGTONS!
