My easter Eggers quit all together for the winter, but my black sex link and Rhode Island red laid right through their molt.

They generally molt in the late fall or winter. I have two hens that are sisters and hatched the same day (Jan. 15, 2014)... one molted in October and the second one just finished molting this week. My first to molt was in early September.

Anyone know why a 2 year old RIR would not have molted yet? Her feathers are so tattered, I wish she'd just molt already!

I have a broody raising a chick right now. Does anyone know if being broody will affect her molt? I've noticed a lot of tail feathers from her in the yard this past week. I don't have a rooster and none of the other girls are loosing feathers yet.
