Necropsy thru CSU costs ~$35 (plus shipping), but can add up if you elect additional testing. The bird needs to be kept cold, not frozen. A singular, sudden death is usually not infectious to other birds (or there would be many showing signs), but more likely heart attack/stroke or even a sepsis...

Yes that's a real thing..... In preventing contamination, poultry should be strictly quarantined. Last year, there was a booth at the stock shock where a large commercial operation was parked bedside the sale cages. The employees manning that operation could not step onto their premises for...

Preliminary results back from my sebrights necropsy at CSU. Heart failure. He is investigating the brain this week, and will finish the report, but no signs of Mareks nor leukosis so I'm suspecting the neuro signs may have been a stroke. That Would account for complete resolution of the...

So a month ago I noticed his crop looked distended, he was droopy and he held his neck funny. I researched crop stasis here and started treating him with panacur, vitamin b, and steroids. When I spoke to Kristy Pabilonia at CSU, she stated crop stasis is symptomatic of any illness. When he...

Today I lost my beloved sebright rooster. He was the coolest guy (unlike his brother that met the dinner plate). He showed some neurologic signs a month ago, but appeared to make a full (almost) recovery. I dont think you could have recognized any symptoms if you hadnt known he was sick. I...

You can send her on ice, but not frozen to CSU for a necropsy, and they can run tests to determine what diseases she and your flock may be carrying.
